F.A.I.R. Trade Group would like to welcome Phil Haney, Esq. Director & Counsel - Global Trade Compliance for SIG SAUER, Inc. to discuss the implications of the Reese's Law.
As some members may know, if you or your business partners manufacture, import, or sell firearm optics, binoculars, rangefinders, or any other commercial good that uses the batteries at the heart of Reese’s Law, then this town hall meeting is for you.
Reese’s Law is a US domestic consumer protection law passed by Congress and signed by the President in 2022 that creates marking, labeling, warning, and packaging/product requirements for goods that contain coin cells also known as ‘button batteries’. These types of batteries are a choking/swallow hazard for small children. These changes affect the entire US stream of commerce to include importers.
As of September 21st, 2024, Reese's Law is in full effect. Savvy members may note that firearms are by law exempt from consumer protection laws…but certain accessories commonly found with firearms that use these batteries may not be exempt. Join us in learning more about Reese’s Law and its real-world implications for you or your business partners’ supply chain. Phil Haney, one of F.A.I.R.’s Board of Directors will give insights and explain the impact from his first-hand experience with Reese’s Law.
This is an opportunity for members to learn more about the law, share their thoughts, and engage in meaningful dialogue on the topic; which is a hot issue right now with the Consumer Protection Safety Commission (CPSC) as the government regulator for Reese’s Law.
